I greatly enjoyed Camp Ozark, but I can't help but notice that things aren't as good as they seem. This year they sent me home due to my history of self harm, instead of talking to me about my problems. The top staff who was in charge of me was very rude. When u found out I was leaving, they didn't let me say good bye to my cabin mates. They treated me like I was some kind of dilinquent. The camp is also very homophobic. One of my camp friends got sent home for being a lesbian. I also find it unsettling that all the foreign workers are on janitor and kitchen duty. It makes me wonder if they knew what they were signing up for.

I worked here during summer of '16. There are better places to work & send your kids. The top staff and permanent staff are very uncoordinated. This one issue was my biggest headache. The campers in my cabin misbehaved one day, and the top staff set the punishment as cleaning the cabin for 15 min. of mish mash (free time). Cabin clean up is normally done immediately after breakfast. So, me & my co-counselor told the campers not to clean after breakfast, for cleaning the cabin 15 min. into mish mash was their punishment. However, when the campers, co-counselor, and I regrouped in the cabin for lunch, we had a "red flag" (indicates cabin is not clean). The campers were to clean the cabin before going to lunch & my phone was also inaccessible for my lunch break. I consulted w/ another top staff (our top staff was off for the day) & he told me it was O.K. for the campers to eat lunch & clean for 15 min. of mish mash as punishment. So, I return to the cabin & informed the other co-counselor & campers to go to lunch & clean during mish mash. I go to get my phone from the office & leave for lunch, but a certain permanent staff member stood in the way. I explained the issue to her & told her another top staff member said it was O.K. for the cabin to be cleaned during mish mash. She contacted him via radio & and responded to him & me that the cabin must be cleaned & inspected before going to lunch. So, I caught my cabin before they reached the chow hall & said we have to go back & clean. We returned & cleaned. I left to find a top staff to inspect the cabin while the other counselor & campers waited to be inspected. When I found a top staff & walked back to the cabin w/ him, the others were gone. My co-counselor realized lunch was about to end & went ahead to took the campers the chow hall so they could eat. When they got there, he told me, the other campers in that lunch shift had eaten & left; the chow hall staff were winding down & putting food away. They barely made lunch. They were about to miss a meal due to lack of coordination between those in charge. Though this is a long post, my point is that Camp Ozark is willing to make a child miss a meal as a form of punishment. That is unacceptable & I hope you find it unacceptable, as well. Spend or make your money elsewhere.

This camp is wonderful. Here you can really learn a lot about god and further your realship with him. The camp is also super fun! I have been going for 5 years, and every year gets better!

I've been going to Camp Ozark for 3 summers now. I live in NC, but go all the way to AR because Ozark is one of the best places in the world. There are so many activities and classes - over 150! No matter what your hobbies are, you will find activities you enjoy. It's like being at Disney World at camp, because there is always something to do. Mish Mash is my favorite time of day, because you have two hours to do whatever activity you want - go to the lake, ride horses, take on the ropes courses, etc. Also, the lake is a blast! There's the Blob, a rope swing, 8 slides, water trampolines, and more! Going to camp here has taught me leadership skills and made me more confident. It is a life changing experience! The counselors and staff here are wonderful. I highly recommend coming to Ozark!

Camp ozark was the best experience of my life some people on here are saying it's loud but I mean it's a summer camp so it's gonna be loud and the only time it's loud is when they're playing music at ozone or lunch or dinner. Also some people say the showers don't have enough privacy well they got bigger curtains. You will not regret going to camp I know I love it
