I respect the right of any place to refuse pets, but after AGREEING to let us book and then refusing two days later.. I don't think they have a lot of respect for their commitments or their guests. There seem to be a LOT of nice cabins in this area of Arkansas...I would pick a different one.
LOVED IT!! Super nice owners...9 of our family members including 5 children between the ages of 3 to 12 stayed at the Rocky Shoals Cabin on the River and had a great time! The cabin was very well kept and clean. The grounds were beautiful - included two fire pits, washers, horse shoes, tether ball, and a park in the front lot! The river was clear and view from the cabin was great!
The house was clean and very much like home. Huge front yard and back yard that slopes down to the river. Kids had fun wading in the shallow water ( I recommend pool shoes or flip-flops for the rocky riverbed ) and catching minnows, frogs, and such then releasing them. Very peaceful. Beautiful stars at night and lots of Summer fireflies. Nearby Mt. Ida has a grocery store and a couple of dollar stores to grab a few quick things that you may have forgotten. Not a very long drive to see things in Hot Springs as well.
We have stayed in House 1 twice over the last two years and LOVE the place. The place was spacious and the owner was friendly. We enjoyed the river view and all the amenities in the house. The house was clean, well-stocked with towels and kitchen-ware. We especially enjoyed visits from Bowser, the owner's dog.
Rocky Shoals looked like it might be a nice place to spend a few days, but we experienced a serious problem while booking. "Bryan" originally allowed us to book with our (extremely well-behaved) dog as long as I agreed to a $60 charge for cleaning, which I did. So I let all seven people in our group know about the property, gave them the address/directions, set the dates, and THREE of us requested time off from work.
Two days later Bryan called to let me know that he had changed his mind about our pet. His explanation was that the "cleaning company he uses must have gone out of business". I offered to thoroughly clean the house myself (AND leave a deposit), but Bryan refused to budge and we were left scrambling to find a new place to stay at the last minute.
